Filming

On November 24th, we started our filming. We set mainly all the scenes in Mia's basment but some, the clips of Tom at the graveyard and the clip of me and Gwen walking to the house in baldock highstreet by the church. We thought the church was quite a creepy place, they aren't happy places and you most probably wouldn't find a comedy or romance opening scene at a churchyard. The aim of having a clip of Tom staring at the gravestone is to try and get the
audience to think who the dead person is and what relevance has it to Tom. This would hopefully make the audience want to watch more to find out, little do they know they wont. I think if we were to do this shot again, we should of had a shot from the gravestone's point of view looking up to Tom - this would of made the audience think Tom is possibly going to be a hero in the film as we are looking up to him.
The next few clips were of Tom walking back to his house, we wanted different shots from different angles and different levels to make it more interesting to watch. We also wanted to show time passing as he was walking so when editing this particular shot, we used the 'Fade' tool before/after each shot.
This tool helped give the affect of time passing, also with the music playing over the top it is eerie but not quite scary as we were trying to build tension.
The next clips we shot were Me and Gwen entering the building for the first time and meeting Tome. We wanted to show Tom locking the door. This was fairly challenging as we took a few shots and needed to cut them/time them perfectly so it looked smooth. It was also hard to shot as we wanted to show Tom getting the lock out of his pocket, putting the lock on and locking it up so we had to do a few different shots but make sure they are all smooth.
The next shots were hard to film. We originally wanted to film it all in the dark after the lights got turned off. At the time Mia was doing the filming and it looked really good but when we got the editing room on the 25th, we realised it was too dark. Some of the clip were really good, for example there was a shot were i was being dragged along the floor and the torch light was lighting up my face, but shot were Gwen was running backwards didn't really make sense and were very hard to edit because of the lighting.

By before the chirstams holidays, we edited as much as we had, even trying to lighten some of the clips. The begining scenes were well done, lighting was good, sounds and the shots were all different and interesting but we all agreed the middle, main scene when the lights go off wasn't working. It looked to dark and it was hard to tell whats going on. So, we have come up with a new middle section but keeping the same begining which we have already done. Our plan is to spend two lessons after christmas to film.
