The company is the organizer for the annual independent horror film festival After Dark Horrorfest, also known as 8 Films to Die For, which is currently in its fourth year. On 30 March 2010 the company founded with After Dark Originals alongside Lionsgate and Syfy.

After Dark Films is an independent motion picture studio which was formed in 2006, by Courtney Solomon and Hong Kong based real estate magnate, Allan Zeman. Solomon is a filmmaker, most known for directing both "Dungeons & Dragons" and "An American Haunting".
