9 still shots from Casino Royale
Eon Productions ltd. is shown in a small white, plain font against cgi effects of red blood dripping down the screen.
Iconic shot of james bond shooting at the camera making the audience feel more involved as if they are being shot. The colours are faded and mostly black and white. He is wearing a suit which shows dominance.
Film title shown with four circles of card suits in red and white. The red colour signifies death but also passion.
Sillhouettes of a black figured man hold a large gun. This is a clear convention of horror and lets the audience know that this film is going to have violence and be fast paced.
Again, computer generated guns. They are against a green background which looks like a casino board. The guns are firing red hearts, like the suit hearts in cards, but this also implies lives are going to be taken. Actors names appear in small white font so not to distract from the audience.

Images of men fighting show that this is a fast, paced film with lots of action, The man in red suggests he is the dangerous man. The other man is wearing a suit which is iconic of Jame Bond so we know this is him but we haven't seen the actors face yet.
The very last shot shows the directors name, the most important in the production team, and Daniel Craigs face, the most important actor in the film. There is dark lighting around his face which suggests he is dangers but also serious, the blue background reinforces this idea.
There is a strong action element throughout the 5 minute opening of Casino Royale. There are clear conventions to the genre of film but also hints throughout suggesting what the storyline is to do with. There are two main components i noticed which are significant, card suit symbols and the colour red. The colour red implies death, blood, murder but also love and passion which are conventions of action films. Card suit symbols suggests that there may be a possible theme of gamling throughout the film and also linking to the casino theme. The very first shot is of computer generised (CGI) blood dripping down the screen with 'Eon production LTD' in a simple white font. The film title also appears against a black screen with simple white font. I think the producers wanted to keep it simple because they didnt want to distract away from the action through the title sequence. White can also signify innocence, and in the film, Jame Bond or 007 is the hero and therefore innocent.
There are alot of computer generated images of guns firing the heart suit, this implies the taking of somebodys life and that there is also going to be violence and deaths within the film. The music is up-tempo and fast paced to go along with the quick action being shown, this gets the audience ready for the fast paced genre of action. The music also has the sounds of trumpets and loud drums which are clear conventions in action music as the are loud instruments producing a lot of power. You only see sillhouettes of people and you don't see 007 until the very end but it is clear with the guns, violence, red hearts that this is a James Bond film. They are stereotypical objects and colours you would see within action films but especially James Bond. The titles in the film last for approximately 3 minutes 15 seconds until the titles fade and the film begins.
I feel that there is a strong focus on the theme and genre of the film creating a very simple, yet effective opening to get the audience in the right mind set and ready for a film filled with death, violence and fast paced action.
